Brothers and Sisters of Melanesia,
From the highlands of Papua New Guinea to the shores of Fiji, from the jungles of West Papua to the islands of Vanuatu and the Solomons—we are one people, one blood, one destiny. For too long, we have been divided by colonial borders, foreign languages, and imposed governments that do not reflect our true unity. But the time has come to awaken the ancient truth: Melanesia is not just a region—it is a nation waiting to be reborn.
The dream of a United States of Melanesia is not a fantasy. It is the only future where our people can stand strong, govern ourselves, and protect our land, culture, and future generations.
The Choice: Unity or Fragmentation?
1. A Divided Melanesia: The Legacy of Colonialism
Today, our people are split into artificial countries—Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, Fiji, Kanaky (New Caledonia), and West Papua—all drawn by foreign rulers who knew nothing of our kinship. These borders:
- Weaken our voice on the global stage.
- Make us dependent on foreign aid and exploitation.
- Turn brothers into strangers, despite sharing the same ancestors.
This is not our way. Our ancestors traded, married, and waged war as one interconnected civilization long before Europeans carved up our lands.
2. A United Melanesia: Strength in Oneness
Imagine a United States of Melanesia, where:
- One currency replaces the Australian, American, and French-controlled money.
- One army defends all Melanesian lands, including West Papua.
- One foreign policy negotiates with China, the US, and Indonesia as equals, not beggars.
- One Melanesian identity overrides tribal divisions while respecting local customs.
This is not a dream—it is a necessity for survival.
Africa’s Lesson: Breaking Colonial Chains
Look at Africa. Some nations remain trapped in colonial borders, suffering from weak economies and endless foreign interference. But others are fighting back.
The Alliance of Sahel States (AES)—Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso—have:
- Kicked out French troops and reclaimed their resources.
- Formed a military and economic alliance to resist Western control.
- Created a new regional currency to escape the exploitative CFA franc.
They are undoing colonialism. Why can’t we?
Melanesia must do the same. We must reject the maps drawn in London, Paris, and Jakarta. Our true map is written in our bloodlines, our oral histories, and our shared struggles.
The Path to a United Melanesia
1. Reject Colonial Mentalities
- Stop seeing ourselves as “PNG,” “Solomons,” or “Vanuatu”—we are Melanesians first.
- Teach our children the true history of our unity, not the colonial divisions.
2. Build Economic Independence
- Trade sea cucumbers, cocoa, and timber with each other, not just foreign corporations.
- Create a Melanesian Free Trade Zone to strengthen our economies.
3. Form a Melanesian Confederation
- Start with a Melanesian Union (like the AES) for defense, trade, and diplomacy.
- Push for one Melanesian passport, allowing free movement across our islands.
4. Stand with West Papua
West Papua is Melanesian land, yet it is occupied by Indonesia. A United Melanesia must demand its freedom and bring it back into the family.
The Time is Now
Our ancestors fought wars, crossed oceans, and built civilizations long before colonizers came. We are not weak. We are not poor. We are divided—and that is our only true weakness.
The United States of Melanesia is not a far-off dream—it is the next chapter of our story. The question is: Will we write it ourselves, or let foreigners keep writing it for us?
Elders, chiefs, warriors, and youth—the call is clear. Let us begin the work. Let us meet, discuss, and unite.
One People. One Land. One Melanesia.
